Action Comics #999

In his farewell issue after a commendable run making Action Comics one of the stronger Rebirth titles, Dan Jurgens ends on a high note.

Lois has a long overdue talk with her father, General Lane while Superman considers a different tactic in dealing with one of his adversaries than his father Jor-El. This makes for a nice bow to numerous storylines Jurgens has tackled including the arrival of Mr. Oz. And the first villain Superman begins his rehabilitation efforts with might be a surprise to longtime readers.

Will Conrad takes care of the art this issue and there’s few better choices to wrap this era of Action Comics. Conrad’s photo realistic style works extremely well with a conversational heavy issue.

With the big anniversary issue in two more weeks this was a terrific cap to what’s been a really strong title before Brian Michael Bendis kicks off his run. This is an easy recommendation for fans of Jurgens’ work on Action Comics.
