It’s sad when the only X-Men movie news is that there’s yet another delay to their release date. That probably doesn’t matter though since there doesn’t seem to be a ton of interest in Fox’s Dark Phoenix or New Mutants films.
Or maybe 20th Century Fox is hoping history repeats itself. Dark Phoenix was originally slated for a Nov. 2 release and is now moving to Feb. 14, 2019. If you remember, Black Panther originally was set for a November 2017 debut, but got pushed back to February. You all know how that turned out as Black Panther has gone on to become the highest grossing comic book movie ever. We’ll see if audiences have any love for Dark Phoenix when it arrives on Valentine’s Day.
I don’t think that’s going to work out too well for them as the last film in the series, X-Men: Apocalypse, only managed to earn $155 million domestically. Another year’s delay probably isn’t going to suddenly make fans interested in the X-Men films any time soon.
Dark Phoenix is directed and written by Simon Kinberg and will star James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Sophie Turner and Jessica Chastain.

Continuing with the decade jump ahead for the series, Dark Phoenix is 10 years after X-Men: Apocalypse. Here’s the synopsis:
X-Men: Dark Phoenix finds the X-Men in a place they’ve never been before: National heroes! The team embarks on a routine mission into space where things quickly take a turn and they find themselves in a battle with an intergalactic force over team member Jean Grey.
New Mutants gets a second delay. Originally, it was coming out a few weeks from now on April 13. Then it got bumped to Feb. 22. With Dark Phoenix’s move, New Mutants gets pushed to Aug. 2, 2019. The Josh Boone film stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, Blu Hunt, Henry Zaga, and Alice Braga. New Mutants has had some reshoots to add new characters. Hopefully these changes are for the better.
