I’m in the process of converting my wrestling tape library to Blu-Ray. It’s exhaustive, but is giving me the opportunity to watch old favorites and seem classic angles and characters I didn’t get to enjoy as much the first time around. WWF dominated the airwaves in my area. I’m currently on mid-1985 where Jim Cornette is starting to establish the Midnight Express in the NWA and he’s reminding me how great he was during that Golden Era. If you haven’t listened to his podcast, I highly recommend it.
Now, Cornette is taking his talents to another arena. He’s partnering with IDW Limited on a 60-page graphic novel: Jim Cornette Presents: Behind The Curtain – Real Pro Wrestling Stories written and illustrated by Eisner Award-nominated Brandon Easton and Denis Medri.
‘I collected comics even before I got into wrestling, and as a collector myself I want to make this a real collector’s item! I’ve been telling stories for years in my columns and on my podcasts’ Cornette said in a statement. ‘But you know what they say, a picture’s worth a thousand words. So 60 pages of pictures should be enough room to tell a heck of a lot of amazing stories. I can’t wait to take people behind the scenes and have them SEE some of my favorite moments illustrated by an awesome team!’

Cornette will select stories that will be adapted into three chapters by Easton and Medri. But the project needs your help to get completed via Kickstarter.
Here’s the details:
Through Kickstarter, IDW Limited will be able to grant additional content and opportunities to Cornette’s loyal fans and fans of Pro Wrestling overall. Additional perks will include original art, personal conversations with Cornette himself, and even the ability to go down in infamy by being drawn as a heel character directly into the graphic novel!
The Kickstarter effort will begin April 17 and run until May 10.
