Wonder Woman #44
While it’s far from its Greg Rucka prime, Wonder Woman is at least providing some quality action. This issue, writer James Robinson reveals exactly what Darkseid and Grail have been working toward and its connection to Wonder Woman. As far as big mastermind plans go, this is pretty good and will make the conflict with Diana and Darkseid even more personal.
There wasn’t a ton of plot this issue though as it mostly featured Wonder Woman, Steve Trevor and his allies against Darkseid’s Female Furies and parademons. Although not the fairest fight it was enjoyable though it’s weird at this point in the battle that Diana hasn’t reached out to her Justice League teammates.
Emanuela Lupacchino’s artwork continues to deliver. I really like the energy she brings to her pages. Her layouts are getting even more dynamic with scenes that play out past the page allowing the reader’s imagination to envision parademons just out of camera range.
Amazons Attacked lived up to its name this issue and the stakes definitely increased. The action and artwork make this one a solid read for readers curious to see how this all plays out.
