Hal Jordan and the
Green Lantern Corps #43

hal jordan and the green lantern corps 43

Darkstar Rising had some interesting twists in its second chapter. The concept of a more lethal police force than the Green Lanterns isn’t something new, but Writer Robert Venditti is finding some fresh angles for it. Specifically the notion that the Darkstars wouldn’t be lacking for recruits to their ranks as the galaxy has grown increasingly frustrated with the Corps’ lax treatment of murderers.

It was nice to see more lanterns show up on this mission as Venditti has a tendency to just focus on John Stewart, Kyle Rayner, Guy Gardner and Jordan. Spreading the spotlight helps remind readers of the other lanterns worthy of attention.

Artist Rafa Sandoval remains rock solid. He provides the title with needed visual consistency and the title rarely goes three issues without him, which is a remarkable run in the biweekly release schedule.

This storyline is shaping up to be another very strong entry in the series. The title continues to deliver and Venditti keeps upping the threat level against the lanterns making for another terrific installment of one of DC’s best reads.
