No, it didn’t make good on even teasing what the Diminutive Duo were doing during Avengers: Infinity War, but on every other level the new Ant-Man and The Wasp trailer delivered.
From Michael Pena’s overly detailed sharing to Laurence Fishburne name dropping Goliath, this trailer was a lot of fun. After the intense, emotional epic that was Infinity War, we all could probably make due with having a few laughs. And based on the trailer, the Ant-Man sequel doesn’t look like it’s going to get stuffy and serious.
My only longstanding gripe with the film is The Wasp’s helmet. In the comics, Wasp rarely had one and didn’t care that anyone knew her identity. The colors make the outfits look different enough, but this is one instance I wish Marvel Studios followed the old trend of always having the hero without a mask or helmet.
I love the classic comic book vibe here of teasing what Ant-Man and The Wasp were up to during Infinity War. That’s such an old school comic book play straight from the big tie-in heavy big events. We’re likely to see similar marketing for Captain Marvel and the main reason is because it works.
