Incredibles 2 clobbers its way to 10th best all-time opening

Incredibles 2 had a super opening blowing away earlier estimates to earn $180 million. That massive haul easily sets a new animated record opening, besting Finding Dory’s $135 million big time.

Turns out waiting 14 years is pretty good for business for Disney. Like The Force Awakens, which was the first Star Wars film in a decade, audiences were anxiously awaiting the new installment.

This also knocks Iron Man 3 out of the Top 10 best openings. At one point Marvel Studios has the best three openings with Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Iron Man 3.

Ocean’s 8 came in at a distant second with $19 million. With a $79 million gross in two weekends, the female ensemble has already made back its $70 million budget.

Tag debuted in third with $14.6 million making half of its $28 million budget already.

Solo: A Star Wars Story lagged behind with $9 million. That takes its tally to $190 million, still well below expectations.

Deadpool 2 closed out the top 5 with $8.8 million taking its gross to $294 million. While impressive, that’s well off the pace of the first film, which ended its run with $363 million.
