Hal Jordan and the
Green Lantern Corps #47

hal jordan and the green lantern corps 47

Darkstars Rising has easily been one of the better arcs of the Rebirth era Hal Jordan run. Writer Robert Venditti’s work has every bit as much depth and surprises as the best Geoff Johns Green Lantern era and issue 47 showed the thrills aren’t ending anytime soon.

Guy Gardner, Kyle Rayner and Jordan all faced significant detours in their efforts to recruit aid against The Darkstars, but now Venditti turns the tide to get the Earth lanterns ready for the Corps’ biggest battle yet assuming they survive their various trials.
Venditti answered a few lingering questions that explained some seemingly questionable character behavior.

With Evan Van Sciver done with his deal with DC, the editorial team already found a more than competent successor in Fernando Pasarin. No longer one of DC’s best kept artistic secrets, Pasarin is every bit the detail focused exceptional artist capable of retaining the high visual standards of this book. Pasarin’s work in the Rebirth era has been steadily consistent, but he finds a new level here whether in the action scenes or juggling panels with dozens of characters. The artwork on Hal J arguably hasn’t looked better than Pasarin’s first issue of hopefully a long-term run.

This was easily one of my favorite reads this week as Hal J continues to shine as one of DC’s brightest and reliably entertaining books on the stands.
