Hmmn. What to make of this one? Jared Leto apparently is as tired as everyone else waiting on Warner Bros. to make up its mind on The Joker films. In the interim, he’s signed on to star in Sony’s Morbius film.
Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) will direct the film with a script from Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama.
Morbius the Living Vampire is a Spider-Man ally/enemy. As the name implies, Dr. Michael Morbius tried to find a cure for his rare disease and turned himself into a vampire. He’s got a lot of similarities with Batman villain/ally Man-Bat.
Since Sony did Marvel Studios a favor and partnered to bring Spider-Man into the MCU, it’s time for Marvel Studios to do a make good as well. How? By allowing Sony to use Blade for the Morbius film.
It’s been a long time since Wesley Snipes’ character has been on the big screen. Heck, why not just let Snipes reprise the role and see how a vampire hunter and a living vampire could co-exist to take down an even more sinister threat.

There’s no timetable announced for the film yet, but I’m intrigued by this casting. Leto should make for a cool Morbius. He’s already got the hair and as he proved in Suicide Squad, he’s not afraid to vamp it up.
What do you think? Excited about this one or think it’s just going to bite?
