Deathstroke #33
Deathstroke vs Batman rolls to its fourth chapter and Priest throws a new dynamic in the mix: a Deathstroke/Robin team up.
As you’d expect Damian proves to be a major handful for Slade now that Damian thinks he’s his father. Or does he? This was an unusual chapter in this arc as Batman doesn’t make an appearance yet his impact was still being felt.
Damian plays off Deathstroke well and Priest seems to have fun with a dynamic we hadn’t seen to this extent before. It was much better than the animated Son of Batman film, which failed at its spin on Deathstroke and Robin.
Based on the special guest star this issue Ed Benes was a smart fill-in artist. Beyond his skills at certain characters, Benes is a very capable artist adept at heavy action scenes and intense dialogue moments.
Priest kept things close to the vest this issue focusing more on the character interplay over major plot development.
Deathstroke seems to have figured out Batman’s play, which should make for a fun final two installments of this arc.
