Injustice vs He-Man
and the Masters of the Universe #1

The concept of bringing the Injustice universe to the Masters of the Universe realm was enough of a selling point for me. This was one of those comics where I assumed I would like it, but was surprised how good it ended up being right away. This first issue blew my expectations away and really left me excited about all the various possibilities.

From He-Man staving off a coup by Faker to Batman teaming with Injustice Superman and Moss Man and Swamp Thing meeting, writer Tim Seeley crafts this initial issue like he’s having a mash-up with his action figures. I really enjoyed how the script picks right up from the MOTU/ThunderCats crossover to provide a strong sense of continuity. Seeley has the characters’ voices down perfectly including this Injustice version Batman.

Artist Freddie E. Williams III has such an energetic larger than life style that every page feels like watching a summer blockbuster. Williams is uniquely qualified at tackling such an ambitious crossover and his detailed work will more than deliver on the visual end.

As much fun as the opening salvo was, the final page really showed how epic Seeley is intending to make this mini-series. I won’t spoil it here, but things are about to get pretty intense for He-Man and his new allies with a villain that should be immensely fun to see him battle.

These dream match-up scenarios are part of the fun of Injustice in the first place so it’s a blast to see that further carried out in an Injustice comic crossover. I’ve got a good feeling about this one and it might end up being the most fun crossover of 2018 when it concludes.
