Injustice vs Masters of the Universe #2
There’s not a comic more fun right now than this title. Writer Tim Seeley appreciates the magnitude of this dream match crossover and is checking off every potential team-up/fight that fans can imagine. He-Man vs. Bane? Check. Stratos’ Hawk people battling Steppenwolf’s parademons? That’s here too. As well as a few more surprises.
In a story with a corrupt Superman, Seeley crafts a great sequence where He-Man assumes the unshakeable and encouraging hero role on Earth. Seeing a barbarian running around in the city makes for an interesting visual and Seeley even throws in a terrific twist involving Orko.
This issue finds Batman rallying his troops along with his new Eternian allies while some of Earth’s heroes wait behind on Eternia. That leads to some interesting encounters on both planets. And behind the scenes, Skeletor plots to wrest control from Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman.
Freddie E. Williams II is such a tremendous artist for this book. He gives the characters such a broad, larger than life presence. Williams’ art really seizes the epic scope of this story and he’s knocking it out on every page. Jeremy Colwell’s colors are an important component of the visual as well. This is a series locked in on every front.
I’m loving this book as it keeps going above and beyond my expectations. It’s been a lot of fun and I can’t wait to see how this team blows my away next issue.
