One of my biggest problems with the Star Wars sequel trilogy is how it’s failed to provide any useful context for The First Order. They’re just a bootleg version of The Empire. With the new series set for this fall, some of those gaps might finally be explained. Check out the first look with the Star Wars Resistance trailer.
The Star Wars Resistance trailer introduces fans to Kazuda Xiono, a new Resistance fighter pilot recruit. His mission: spy on the surging First Order.
Poe Dameron, who will be voiced by Oscar Isaac, sends Kaz to the Resistance ship, the Colossus, to work alongside new characters. Kaz’s cover is he’s a mechanic working with Poe’s buddy Yeager, who runs a starship repair service with his team Tam, Neeku and an astromech named Bucket.
I’m thrilled that the series is sticking to the commitment to diversity we’ve seen in the previous Sequel Trilogy films. In addition to Isaac, Gwendolyn Christie will voice her live action character Captain Phasma. Also joining the cast is Bobby Moynihan, Donald Faison, Christopher Sean, Suzie McGrath, Scott Lawrence, Myrna Velasco, Josh Brener, Jim Rash, and Rachel Butera.
Star Wars Resistance kicks off at 10 p.m. Oct. 7 on the Disney Channel. After the premiere, the rest of the series will air on Disney XD.
What do you think? Looking forward to this one and excited about the potential for Resistance?
