Adventures of the

Super Sons #3

After the last few weeks of DC Comics, Adventures of the Super Sons #3 came at the right time with a little superhero levity.

Superboy is split into Superboy Blue and Red and now Robin has another headache beyond the alien Injustice Gang.

This was a goofy story befitting the title, but writer Peter J. Tomasi probably spent a little too much time on Red and Blue bickering. Still there’s enough fun with Robin and the Superboys battling super-powered bad guys.

The limitations of the specific timeline of the series really felt noticeable this issue. Tomasi has to stretch out the story a bit to keep Superboy and Robin in space instead of wrapping it to put them back on Earth.

This story is set before Man of Steel #1 so it’s easier to keep them off Earth than dealing with continuity issues.

Artist Carlo Barberi seemed a little off this issue with looser pencils than normal. His art is still serviceable just not as crisp as usual.

Next issue Tomasi has an unexpected guest star arrive to aid Superboy and Robin. It’s not the usual cameo and it should be fun to see where Tomasi takes the story next.
