Green Lanterns #56

Evil’s Might is in its seventh chapter, which would seem very long on a monthly book, but works fine in the bi-weekly release. And it also helps that writer Dan Jurgens and artist Mike Perkins continue to make this arc a gripping, intense and surprise filled story.

The Lanterns are beaten. Cyborg Superman and his lackeys Eon and The Ravagers have overtaken Mogo and all their hope lies with Simon Baz and John Stewart. But they’ve got a secret weapon no one will see coming.

Jurgens has kept Cyborg Superman a strong villain and his personal connection to Hal Jordan make him a foe capable of heading up a prolonged arc.

Perkins’ art remains a bit inconsistent in terms of perspectives, but he presents even the quieter moments in dynamic fashion.

Next issue looks to continue the intensity with what looks to be the big showdown and conclusion of a pretty engaging arc.
