NYCC 18: DC Essentials reveals Supergirl, Cyborg Superman, Cheetah figures
DC Collectibles collectors have come to be a little worried when there’s a lack of information about their favorite figure lines. DC Essentials had a pretty weak showing at San Diego Comic Con with only three new figures revealed. Fortunately the NYCC 18: DC Essentials reveals quickly put aside concerns of the line’s early demise.
While the output of figures still remains low, we are definitely getting some new additions to the line. DCC revealed Cheetah to pair with the previously shown Wonder Woman and a Supergirl and Cyborg Superman. I really appreciate DCC’s approach with the Essentials line as each hero is matched with a villain.
Cheetah looks great and Supergirl also turned out nice.
Cyborg Superman is going to need a bit more work to be comic accurate, but there’s plenty of time to fine tune some of the details like the half metal head and metallic costume elements.

The timing of this wave makes sense as Wonder Woman will be squaring off with Cheetah in Wonder Woman 1984 and Cyborg Superman will be featured in Warner Bros. Animation Reign of the Supermen.
I’m ready to see DCC try some more challenging characters like Hawkman, Martian Manhunter, Captain Cold and Gorilla Grodd. DC Essentials is showing a lot of promise so it’d be nice to see some more variety with the figure sculpts.
