The Flash #56

While I’m anxious for The Flash fallout to Heroes In Crisis #1, the current story arc is still very entertaining.

The Flash and Commander Cold battle the Sage Force possessed Heat Wave on multiple fronts as writer Joshua Williamson reinforces the tragedy of Mick Rory.

Williamson also expands the role for Det. Burns, who plays off Flash well. Hopefully Williamson continues to make Burns a featured supporting player.

Scott Kollins’ art is always welcome and his pages continue to look as energetic and dynamic as his earlier work on the title with Geoff Johns. The color work from Luis Guerrero is strong with excellent choices on the shade of primary colors and gradients on Flash’s speed effects.

There was one odd panel where Kollins and Williamson had some miscommunication. Kollins has Flash smiling as if engaged in lighthearted banter while the script had him in the midst of a serious exchange with Heat Wave.

Faster Than Thought is another exciting chapter of a Flash run that keeps on delivering with no signs of letting up. It remains one of DC’s most consistently enjoyable reads each month.
