Does Iron Fist’s cancellation pave way for Heroes for Hire, Daughters of the Dragon spin-offs?

This is disappointing. Iron Fist’s first season was generally terrible and a chore to watch. Season 2 was a vastly different story. So somewhat surprisingly, Netflix announced today there won’t be a third season.

Marvel’s Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners,‘ Netflix said in a joint statement with Marvel Television. We’re thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we’ve shared on this series. While the series on Netflix has ended, the immortal ‘Iron Fist will live on.’

With Defenders unlikely getting a second season it looks like some of the thrill is gone with the Marvel Netflix shows. The timing of this announcement is surprising considering Daredevil’s third season airs next Friday.

I’m kinda wondering if Iron Fist is being shelved to make way for a Daughters of the Dragon and Heroes for Hire spin-off.

The former would team Luke Cage and Iron Fist leading ladies Misty Knight and Colleen Wing. Marvel Netflix head Jeph Loeb said fans ask about a DOD show ‘Daily. It might be hourly if I had a Twitter account that I had to look at.

While Luke Cage’s first two seasons have been well received adding Iron Fist to the mix would reunite one of Marvel’s original odd couples. Stars Mike Colter and Finn Jones have shown great chemistry in limited interaction and a series spotlighting them wouldn’t be a bad thing.

What do you think? Is Iron Fist’s cancellation a good thing if we get those spin-offs?
