Green Arrow #48

One thing that’s been very apparent since DC Rebirth is Green Arrow can endure various creative team changes. After a fun run from The Benson sisters, Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing take on writing duties. Kelly and Lanzing waste little pitting Green Arrow and Black Canary against one of his oldest foes Count Vertigo.
Kelly and Lanzing expand on Vertigo’s powers enabling him to set up a Inception style display. It’s a smart and interesting twist on the character.
Javier Fernandez returns as artist reminding me why I was so excited when he initially landed this gig. Not just anybody can handle Green Arrow, but Fernandez has a terrific sense of how to pose him and get the maximum emotion.
It’s too bad DC has already announced the book is ending with issue 50. Kelly and Lanzing have a nice feel for Green Arrow and his relationship with Black Canary that it seems a shame to end it so soon.
Green Arrow may be a short-timer, but that doesn’t mean it’s ending on a low note. This was another strong issue that delivered once again.
