WWE star Roman Reigns tag teams with Dwayne Johnson in Hobbs and Shaw

Time for a little Rock and Reigns Connection (sorry).  On his Instagram page, Dwayne Johnson announced his cousin, Roman Reigns, will be joining the Fast and Furious universe.

Reigns will be playing the brother to Johnson’s Hobbs in the spin-off Hobbs & Shaw. Outside of his daughter the franchise has never talked that much about Hobbs’ family so this is a cool way to expand the Hobbs clan. And geesh if any current WWE star has the look of a movie star it’s Roman Reigns. You know Vince McMahon is quaking at the thought of Reigns getting bit by the acting bug like it did Johnson and John Cena.

Reigns is taking an extended sabbatical from the WWE to deal with a leukemia resurgence. It’s nice to see Reigns still being able to perform for his fans in some way. Hopefully his recovery is coming along smoothly as well.

I’m curious how all this is settling with Vin Diesel as his on/off again rival Johnson’s Fast and Furious spin-off is starting to seem like it’s got plenty of franchise potential. Hobbs and Shaw also features Jason Statham, Idris Elba, Eiza Gonzalez and Vanessa Kirby.

It’s expected to be released on Aug. 2.
