Teen Titans #28

teen titans 28

Despite getting beat down and humiliated by Red Hood, Robin is determined to keep fighting his obsessive mission. His new target? Deathstroke. This is a risky play for Damian as his team hardly seems ready to tackle a professional like Slade Wilson, but a little determination goes a long way.

Writer Adam Glass seems to have worked out the remaining kinks with his handle on the characters as this is one of the better installments yet. Glass is writing the characters more confidently. I take for granted that every new writer will immediately know how the characters should sound especially if there’s a drastic change in mission statement like Teen Titans. Now that it’s coming together the book has become far more enjoyable. With DC Comics in a state of flux right now with a rash of cancellations it’s nice to see a book reach a new level of consistency.

Bernard Chang’s artwork has always been reliable and I continue to be a big fan of his unique style. Chang provides so much flavor and personality it’s easy to go along for the ride whether it’s in quiet moments or heavy action sequences. Marcelo Maiolo’s colors are also sensational particularly with the use of some nice warm hues as the team braces for Deathstroke.

This is the first chapter of a Deathstroke crossover Glass is writing with Deathstroke writer Priest. Based on some spoiler solicitations, this won’t play out like a lot of readers expect and it should lead to some massive shake-ups to both titles. It should be a fun arc.
