The Terrifics #16
The Terrifics is one of the purer superhero comics out there, which not surprisingly results in one of the more fun comics around today.
The team is fighting against a series of events that resemble virtual Bible plagues. It’s a crazy scenario and one writer Gene Luen Yang makes as unpredictable as possible. Yang hasn’t struggled incorporating Paula aka Mrs. Terrific on the team or keeping Plastic Man’s son in the supporting cast. The Terrifics has always had that vintage Fantastic Four tone and it retains that fun spirit even with the change in creative teams.
Artist Stephen Segovia worked hard to be one of the most improved artists at DC and it’s paid off with some amazing pages. Segovia has improved his storytelling and he’s got an even better sense of how to frame the action and keep readers’ attention.
Yang and Segovia are doing a strong job of maintaining the high quality of their predecessors and keeping that creative anything is possible tone of this book. This is for fans that don’t want to get bogged down with overwhelming continuity and just want to enjoy a fun read. It doesn’t get much better than The Terrifics.
