DC Comics reviews for 6/5/19 – Justice League #25, Batman #72
The Green Lantern #8
Green Lantern #8 is the most gloriously ridiculous comic I’ve read all year. It’s only likely to be topped when issue 9 comes out. From giant Green Arrows, a regular size Green Arrow and a soul-steaming alien drug dealer, writer Grant Morrison was feeling it this issue.
I can only imagine the look on artist Liam Sharp’s face when he read this script and learned what Morrison had in store. It is amazingly absurd and perfectly keeping with the bonkers book we’ve gotten so far.
With Morrison you know you’re going to get an experience unlike any other you’ve read before. Sharp is one of the rare artists on a mainstream book who could come close to bringing Morrison’s vision to the page.
This book is a joy to read each month and I’m almost amazed no one at DC is trying to rein Morrison and Sharp in. This is such a nutty and fun book that makes me wish more comic books were as willing to be this bold and off the wall.
