Good Boys does great business at box office
Good Boys breathed new life into the R-rated comedy genre with a mild upset to capture this weekend’s top spot at the box office.
The tween comedy pulled in $21 million already making back its $20 million budget. In a year dominated by Disney’s blockbusters this is the third consecutive weekend Universal Pictures claimed the box office crown.
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw couldn’t capture the box office title for a third weekend and settled for the runner up spot with $14.1 million. That gives the Fast and Furious spin-off a domestic total of $133 million and foreign total of $303 million for an impressive $437 million.
The Lion King nabbed third place with $11.9 million for a domestic total of $496.1 million. Worldwide the film has brought in $1.435 billion.
In fourth place was The Angry Birds Movie 2 with $10.5 million. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark closed out the top 5 with $10 million.
Spider-Man: Far From Home added another $2.7 million to its total, but the bigger story is the film is now on days away from being Sony’s highest grossing movie with $1.1 billion. This will knock out Skyfall, which held the mark with $1.01 billion.
