After last issue’s improvements, Brian Michael Bendis lapses into a story full of his worst impulses worst than Bart Allen.

The team’s universe hopping takes them to Earth-3 where they tangle not with the Crime Syndicate but an evil version of their team.

Bendis already did a wrecking ball type take on the Crime Syndicate but suggesting a never before revealed Young Justice team comprised of the exact same members of the current squad is a little too cute for his own good.

An omnipresent narrator describes their conflict as they watch the teams collide. It’s a Bendis staple and one that doesn’t have a great payoff this issue.

Character dialogue remains way too nondescript. Besides Impulse every character talks in that same hyper verbose style Bendis adores in his scripts. It’s a dense writing method, but it also is frustratingly slow in terms of building momentum.

John Timms is a good artistic fit for the book as his style is loose and wide open. That’s a fine way to showcase the team’s powers and provide some dynamic action perspectives. The issue’s highlight is seeing Timms and colorist Gabe Eltaeb go to work in handling all the action.

This wasn’t the strongest issue of Young Justice thanks to a forced group of opponents and an overall lack of chemistry building with the still young team.
