DC Comics reviews 9/25/19 – Batman/Superman #2, Detective Comics #1012

Justice League Dark #15

justice league dark #15

This issue finds the team bracing for Circe’s threat while having no idea the intricacies of her plans with her Injustice League Dark.

Wonder Woman has a vague clue and reveals to Zatanna and Kent Nelson the big secret lurking in the team’s base.

Meanwhile the rest of the team gets ambushed by the Injustice League Dark’s machinations. Maybe it’s not a coincidence that they went after Swamp Thing and Man-Bat first.

James Tynion IV taps into some interesting places in his imagination for this arc. With Jason Woodrue, Solomon Grundy and the changes to Swamp Thing and Man-Bat, Tynion isn’t letting up on making JLD the most intense horror comic in DC’s stable.

Alvaro Martinez Bueno has to reach another level to properly put to life Tynion’s scripts and as usual he excels. Bueno outdoes himself this issue with the nightmarish creatures running around. Colorist Brad Anderson consistently does some of his best work here as he finds mesmerizing ways to illustrate the magic effects.

Another month, another can’t miss installment of JLD. This new arc has maintained the same level of high thrills, twists, surprises and epic action sequences we’ve come to expect.
