NYCC 2019: The Walking Dead renewed for Season 11 and Lauren Cohan’s Maggie returning
A day before the kickoff of the new season, AMC announced The Walking Dead won’t become a corpse anytime soon. It will be back for Season 11 and a fan favorite character will be back.
Two years ago that news would have felt like AMC just didn’t want to let go of a dying series, but under show runner Angela Kang, TWD has a new lease on life and become the Sunday night obsession it used to be for me.
I wasn’t rooting against Whiskey Cavalier’s success – it was actually a pretty good show — but with ABC opting to cancel it after one season it led to the return of Lauren Cohan to The Walking Dead.
I’m glad TWD writers opted not to kill off Maggie, one of the remaining since Season 2 regulars. With the increased quality of the show and the departure of Danai Gurira this season, it’ll be nice to have one of the longtime characters back.
