The Green Lantern Corps has been a great avenue for DC to introduce more diverse characters…beyond aliens. With Far Sector, DC debuts new Lantern Sojourner “Jo” Mullein. I’m getting a little Captain Marvel vibe, but I like those huge glasses and Jo’s unique take on the GL costume. It’s always fun seeing how designers change up the Lantern costume and this is a cool update.
With Hal Jordan temporarily shelved as a Green Lantern, this was a smart time to introduce a new Lantern who’s far away from his exploits. The GL concept allows for new characters to pop up at any time so this makes a lot of sense.
N.K. Jemisin, the acclaimed, award-winning author of The Broken Earth and Inheritance science fiction trilogies, makes her comic book debut with bestselling Naomi artist Jamal Campbell as they thrust you into Far Sector, a stunning, mind-bending, sci-fi mystery on the other side of the DC universe!
For the past six months, newly chosen Green Lantern Sojourner “Jo” Mullein has been protecting the City Enduring, a massive metropolis of 20 billion people. The city has maintained peace for over 500 years by stripping its citizens of their ability to feel. As a result, violent crime is virtually unheard of, and murder is nonexistent.

But that’s all about to change in this new maxi-series that adds a new chapter to the legacy of the Green Lanterns! DC’s Far Sector #1 will carry an Ages 17+ content descriptor (for mature readers) and will retail for $3.99.
I’m digging that Jamal Campbell is going to handle the art. He’s got a great animated style that should fit with an intergalactic character like a Green Lantern. Far Sector will be in comic stores in Nov. 13.
