Arrow and The Flash has been going hard on the build-up to Crisis on Infinite Earths. Today we got the first official look at the Anti-Monitor, who will also be played by LaMonica Garrett.
The Anti-Monitor had one of the fiercest costume designs in the comic books, but over the years some artists have tried to improve on George Perez’s take on the character. Bad idea.
Given how the Arrowverse has tackled comic book designs in the past, I was curious to see how they would handle the Anti-Monitor. I didn’t think they could go for the fearsome take on the character, but some of the more iconic elements like the helmet, deep set glowing eyes and the waves of teeth seem like they could have been done with an overlay piece with shoulder pads. This seems like going the Reverse Flash color palette swap of the Monitor’s costume.
The prune face definitely gets the villain look, but maybe this is the first version of the attire and we could see him evolve to other attires like this nightmare-inducing one from the first half of Crisis.
