Batman Superman #3

batman superman #3

Batman Superman 3 is delivering some big time moments along with some rich character showcases.

Batman and Superman’s latest play has Superman dosing himself with The Batman Who Laughs’ toxin. It’s a risky play especially in outsmarting a strategist like TBWL.
The gambit does work in revealing another of the Infected while the heroes have no idea about the third one’s arrival.

DC really shouldn’t have revealed the identities of the Secret Six as it would have been so much more rewarding following the clues writer Joshua Williamson sets in motion. Williamson always finds a way to work in some nice character moments for Batman and Superman. This issue also features a fun callback to the New 52 era of Batman.

David Marquez’s art continues to be a revelation for this book. It’s gorgeous and some of the cleanest artwork in a DC book in years. Marquez has a great sense of staging action sequences and a sense of continual motion in characters so his pages never appear flat. Alejandro Sanchez’s color work is also impeccable with bright hues easily shifting to darker, more ominous tones.

Batman Superman is bringing the goods with a captivating story and amazing artwork. This is definitely a can’t miss title from DC this week.
