DC Comics reviews for 12/18/19 – Doomsday Clock #12, Batman #85, Justice League #38
Batman: The Last Knight on Earth #3
Scott Snyder writes his Batman swan song, which he’s described as his final Batman story for the foreseeable future. As you might expect from the writer of Mecha Batman, Death of the Family Tux Edition Joker and Metal, it’s an inspired and surprise-filled finale to Last Knight on Earth that spectacularly pays off this Black Label mini-series.
Batman and his allies prepare for a final confrontation with Omega and his forces leading to some encounters with some familiar faces and a few more shocking reveals.
Wrapping this chapter of their solo Batman run is artist Greg Capullo, who delivers more of the signature style on Batman’s universe that has become his hallmark since the mid-portion of this decade. From multi-paneled pages to stunning full page pieces, Capullo delivers some amazing work bolstered by the inking of longtime collaborator Jonathan Glapion and the gorgeous coloring by FCO Plascencia.
While this isn’t the regular continuity, Snyder and Capullo wrap their run on Batman in glorious fashion that’s a must get for fans of their work and those that love a good Batman triumphs over the odds story.
