With rumors of Jar Jar Binks appearing in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+ I started thinking about other possibilities.
Jar Jar actually sounds like he could be interesting as he’s rumored to be living in a sad, isolated existence away from the Gungans after his inadvertent role in helping Chancellor Palpatine become The Emperor.
Who else would make for interesting characters for Ewan McGregor’s character to encounter?
There’s no reason for Obi-Wan not to remain in close contact with his former mentor as he keeps an eye on Luke Skywalker in Tattooine. Yoda could also prove to be a useful character in terms of giving Obi-Wan tasks to accomplish throughout the season.
Add in the benefit of Yoda not aging either as a CGI or the old school puppet version so the passage of time since Revenge of the Sith (2005) won’t be so pronounced.
We’ve already seen Jimmy Smits return in Rogue One as one of the founding fathers of the Rebel Alliance. As a close ally of Obi-Wan it makes sense for Obi-Wan to check in or maybe make a trip to Alderaan to help Princess Leia out from the shadows.
At the end of Sith, Yoda offers to teach Obi-Wan how to communicate from beyond The Force with his old Master. Obi-Wan has to learn how to become a Force Ghost at some point before Star Wars. Now we can learn one of the bigger mysteries of the Star Wars saga.
Since he’s on Anakin’s home world he probably will run into Anakin’s former slave master. Watto got down on his luck by the time Attack of the Clones occurred, but he seems like the kind of character who would benefit from Imperial rule.
Beru and Owen Lars
Uncle Owen didn’t want Luke to have anything to do with Obi-Wan Kenobi so clearly something happened to drive a wedge between the two. Maybe it was just Obi-Wan telling him more about Anakin or possibly Ben started trying to train Luke that set Owen off? The series should go a long way toward explaining that fallout.
