Lucy Claire: Redemption #3

lucy-claire-redemption #3 cover

Lucy Claire: Redemption is such a gorgeous book that it wouldn’t matter if the script was mediocre. Good thing writer/artist/letterer John Upchurch has higher standards than just getting one aspect of the book right as the third issue is another incredible ride.

Lucy and her new allies travel to Fairmane in hopes of retrieving her mythical swords that can. The journey might not be that taxing, but Lucy has to deal with the visions of her children and three foxes that may or may not be a figment of her imagination. Redemption has a fairy tale like visual quality that looks like a bloody Disney cartoon of a warrior battling wolves while still retaining that magical element. The backstory with Lucy feeling this deep sense of regret is also an intriguing element to the series.

I love Lucy’s supporting cast. They’ve got a ton of personality and aren’t completely helpless in a fight. And while it’s hardly a spoiler, the art is so fantastic and well worth the price of picking it up.

Lucy Claire: Redemption is a book any fantasy fan really should check out. If you’re not adding it to your pull list, you need to fix that ASAP.
