John Krasinski wants to play Mr. Fantastic in an MCU Fantastic Four film as much as fans

John Krasinski is busy making the promotional rounds for A Quiet Place II, but he consistently keeps having to address questions about his potential involvement in a Marvel Studios version Fantastic Four movie.

As far as fan casting goes, Krasinski seems like an ideal fit for the role of Reed Richards. There’s the added bonus that his wife, Emily Blunt, would be a dream casting choice for Reed’s wife Sue. There wouldn’t be any awkward chemistry issues and Blunt has been linked to Marvel Studios when she was in the running to play Black Widow way back in Iron Man 2.

Blunt actually had to turn down the role due to scheduling issues with the Jack Black vehicle Gulliver’s Travels. It was only then that Marvel went back to Scarlett Johansson to play the role that has become her signature onscreen character.

Blunt’s snake bit luck with Marvel continued as another film kept her from playing Peggy Carter in Captain America: The First Avenger. Considering how huge those two roles eventually became in the grand scheme of the MCU, it seems like Blunt is due a high-profile MCU role, right?

For his part, Krasinski is absolutely down based on his comments in an Esquire interview.

“I was just about to walk into the worst pun ever, but I was like, that’s a fantastic role. That would be awesome,” he said. “Marvel wrote the playbook on secrecy and awesome sort of tantalizing lay and wait until everything’s announced. I am not committed to the role or anything, but I don’t know when they’re doing it. But if and when they do it, I would love to talk to them about it.”

He’s already had an interest in joining the MCU as he was among the actors that auditioned for the role of Captain America, which eventually went to his friend Chris Evans.

Krasinski isn’t doing much to assuage any rumors of him playing Mister Fantastic leaving a teasing statement on his next role after shooting Jack Ryan Season 3 for Amazon.

“If a Marvel movie came along, maybe, or I’m just looking for great stories and great characters really,” he said.
