I love Brian Michael Bendis’ take on Superman should be my kidnapping alert code.

This issue finds Bendis struggling to keep up with his various continuities within Event Leviathan and Young Justice as well as Justice Doom. Bendis also manages to confuse himself whether he wants to call Tim Drake Robin or Drake as he alternated between the two here. There’s also some janky dialogue including this gem: I need to warn you all this is a team-up of the most sinister powerhouses on our planet.”

Yes Leviathan and the Legion of Doom have teamed up to battle the Justice League. The same Legion of Doom masquerading as furniture for Perpetua apparently before Young Justice gets 50 new members, Superman reveals his identity and Leviathan has gone underground after Event Leviathan. Finding out when this issue is supposed to take place as Bendis’ Superboy says is “a whole thing.”

That’s also the case with John Romita Jr’s art, which continues to not be up to his usual standards despite inking from fellow legend Klaus Janson.

I remain convinced Bendis isn’t that interested in writing Superman as he seems more fascinated with throwing in as many guest stars as possible.

Of the two Superman titles, Bendis has a better grasp with Action Comics. Now it’s unraveled and become a continuity challenged mess.
