Wonder Woman #752

wonder woman #752

It’s felt like a while since there’s been a really good kick tail Wonder Woman story with Diana cutting loose and fighting someone not named Cheetah that was on her level.

Steve Orlando is writing Wonder Woman without having to wrap storylines from previous writers and if these last two issues are any indication the book is going to be so much better for it. I’m really liking the new cast additions and the slow establishing of different threats who should pose a significant challenge to Diana. Four Horsewomen? Sign me all the way up!

Also, I’m glad Orlando continues to reference Diana’s bond with Donna Troy, a link that’s been missing since Rebirth got underway.

Max Raynor provides the art this issue with a clean, concise style that captures the intensity of a sword fight. Raynor draws a powerful Wonder Woman. Her new ally, Valda, has to make a strong impression in these early introductory issues and Raynor sets her up well as the kind of character DC hasn’t really had since Shining Knight.

Wonder Woman had gotten into this stale place, but Orlando really has the title on a track to be one of the strongest titles for DC in 2020, which would be perfect timing with the buzz for Wonder Woman 1984 building. Don’t miss out on this one.
