DCeased Unkillables #2

dceased unkillables #2

Like it’s predecessor DCeased Unkillables is not an inspirational feel good story. It’s a series where Hope goes to die. That doesn’t mean it isn’t a tremendous read however.

Months have passed and writer Tom Taylor clearly states the time frame of Unkillables from the original title.

Jim Gordon, Jason Todd and Orphan have set up camp in a school while Vandal Savage’s Suicide Squad including Deathstroke, Ravager, Bane and Deadshot get an unexpected visitor.

Regardless of what he’s writing, Taylor is always able to establish the humanity in his characters. The large ensemble doesn’t matter as he’s able to create moments for every character.

Karl Mostert’s art really compares favorably to Frank Quietly’s style and Mostert similarly adds a staggering amount of detail in his pages. As the action ramps up this issue his art looks even more dynamic and lively.

The original mini-series specialized in heartbreak and tragedy and Unkillables is following suit yet somehow Taylor and Mostert continue to make the deaths feel impactful and not just easy shock value.

Given how the cast is getting streamlined each issue it’s easy to see why Unkillables is just a three issue mini-series. Hopefully when the next chapter of DCeased kicks off later this year there will be some survivors left.
