The Daxamite War wraps this issue and writer Robert Venditti and returning artist Doug Mahnke bring it to a close strongly.

With The Eradicator and his army of Daxamites closing in, Green Lantern’s desperate gambit pays off leading to a thoroughly satisfying albeit brief battle. It’s nice to see heroes outsmarting the bad guys instead of just relying on their powers.

Mahnke made a welcome return to the book, which was timely for this final throw down. He didn’t shortchange showcasing the League’s powers in action specifically John Stewart’s ring effects.

This streamlined team does allow Venditti and Mahnke to create far more suspense, which should fare well for the team in subsequent arcs.
