Robin 80th Spectacular

It’s hard to believe it’s been 80 years of Robin in some form or the other in DC Comics. Almost as odd as there not being a dedicated Robin title right now. For Robin fans of any era, this is a love letter to the greatest sidekick/junior partner of all.

DC didn’t skimp on bringing back some acclaimed creators with extensive paths on Robin including Devin Grayson, Judd Winnick, Chuck Dixon, Tom King & Tim Seeley, Marv Wolfman, James Tynion IV, Tom Grummett, Scott McDaniel, Freddie E. Williams III, Javier Fernandez and Jorge Jimenez working on stories from their beloved versions of Robin.

Typically with these special anthology books there’s a clear standout or two, but the consistency here is so strong with the creative teams providing standalone and filling in gaps in continuity pieces that it just serves as a reminder of all the great eras of Robin without a weak link.

Although in fairness, the Super Sons story just further irritated me as that amazing run of Jonathan Kent and Damian Wayne got ruined by the lousy decision to age Jon up for no good reason.

The special ends with a tease to tie up an important arc that’s played out in Teen Titans that clearly needed to be addressed from the Batman perspective so it’s nice to see this will be handled.

This is was one of the better milestone editions from DC and well worth grabbing for even casual fans of Robin.
