The Flash is the steadiest, consistent book released by DC. Writer Joshua Williamson is still admirably dialed in and this new arc featuring Paradox hasn’t dipped in quality from the book’s regular established mark.

Barry Allen is in heaven with his mom in a city filled with his greatest fans, it why does it feel so wrong? Meanwhile, Paradox prepares for life without The Flash with only Godspeed in his way. But to truly stop him, it might take the most feared member of Flash’s Rogues.

Williamson brings a sense of mystery this issue providing him a setting to feature more of Barry’s investigative side rather than a run first ask questions last mindset. It’s a welcome shift in the take on Barry.

Howard Porter stays on as artist bringing his lively storytelling perspective to the pages with a near constant sense of motion. Porter drawing The Flash just feels right at this moment. Hi-Fi uses some brilliant color choices especially in Barry’s heaven sequences.

The Flash is a smart, exciting book with a creative team that never seems to run out of steam. This Paradox arc is setting up some unexpected character decisions and this issue’s cliffhanger ensures the biggest surprises are yet to come.
