The Green Lantern: Season Two #3
Grant Morrison probably hopes Green Lantern readers enjoyed their mind numbing hiatus of crappy reality TV and Netflix because he’s ready to blow their minds with the latest metaphysical installment.
Hal Jordan responds to a call for help from some old pilot buddies who need a fearless flier to check out a new experimental jet.
Only in Morrison’s imagination would this result in a conflict between the military and a cloud. As usual, it’s a little tricky explaining the mind trip Morrison crafts. Regardless it always manages to be both intriguing and a little confusing. Maybe that’s not a bad thing?
Artist Liam Sharp handles both the pencils and colors this issue and experiments with a new technique that adds a paint-like visual to his style. It’s a cool look and one that will be interesting to see if Sharp continues in subsequent issues.
Green Lantern #3 will likely be the weirdest mainstream comic you’ll read all month. For readers who have been enjoying the Morrison/Sharp ride so far this is another wacky dose of unpredictability that’s worth checking out. To further whet my appetite for this series, next issue will feature The Flash.
