Justice League Dark #24

justice league dark #24

Some of the strongest Justice League Dark standalone are those setup calm before the storm issues with check-ins on the mental state of the team following the latest horrific event.
Writer Ram V follows that tradition smoothly as Detective Chimp updates Wonder Woman on the team’s head space following the confrontation with the Parliaments.

Man-Bat makes a discovery about Swamp Thing, Dr. Fate loses his mentor and Zatanna goes on a drunken bender to find her father. It’s a testament to Ram V and previous writer James Tynion IV that the team can steadily take so many losses yet JLD is still an engaging read.

Amancy Nahuelpan’s art is gorgeous and well fitting for this quieter, laid back issue. Nahuelpan does a great job of conveying all the various emotions of the team as they face this latest crossroads and uncertainty that lies ahead.

Ram V already teases in the first few pages that this won’t end well for the team and this issue marked a nice reflection period before everything falls in to chaos. Justice League Dark readers shouldn’t expect anything less.
