New G.I. Joe Operation Blackout trailer has some clues about potential G.I. Joe Classified Series figures

Today we got the first look at the G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout video game trailer. I’m not sure about the voice performances, but it’s G.I. Joe so I’ll give it a shot.

But since the first shot of the Blackout trailer, collectors understood the visual inspiration for at least the first few waves of Hasbro’s G.I. Joe Classified Series figures. The designs seem to be an exact match from the game so naturally I obsessively poured over the trailer for any Joes we haven’t already seen.

Beyond Duke, Roadblock, Scarlett, Snake Eyes, Baroness, Destro and Storm Shadow there actually were some new characters that likely will be in the Classified Series line. And based on what we’ve seen it’s a good indication of how the figures will turn out.

Dial Tone

It’s not a full shot, but that’s a pretty consistent look with his original Real American Hero figure. His dual strap setup is reduced to one strap and has the same communicator as Duke. That seems a simple reuse. He also has an earpiece and a beret we’ve already seen with Beach Head.

He already had knee pads so that shouldn’t set collectors in a tizzy.

Lady Jaye

G.I. Joe Operation Blackout - lady jaye

Lady Jaye was featured in one of the more chaotic scenes in the trailer, but she was using her javelins — a good sign. Her look also wasn’t a huge departure from the cartoon look save one big difference — brown pants instead of the traditional green on green look. She’s also sporting knee pads and shin guards. I’m not loving the brown pants, but the other changes are fine.

This one was a real surprise as there doesn’t seem to be a big difference from the classic take on Cobra’s master of disguise. I actually like the scarf(?) bit as it only leaves the shredded abs visible. And he’s carrying a mask too? Nice touch.

While I’m not sure how the game will turn out, but I’m already sold on the figures. Hopefully it won’t take too long to see these three from Hasbro.
