Da 5 Bloods star Jonathan Majors joins Marvel Studios as Kang in Ant-Man and The Wasp
The face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is definitely changing with Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Falcon and The Winter Soldier taking the forefront.
Ironically, Ant-Man and The Wasp have been key to some major developments in the MCU.
That’s definitely not changing with the news that Lovecraft Country’s Jonathan Majors (Da 5 Bloods, The Last Black Man in San Francisco) will be joining the MCU as Kang and debuting in the Ant-Man and The Wasp’s sequel.
Deadline broke the news of Kang’s debut. With Loki, Ultron and Thanos appearing in the first three phases, Kang was the next big Avengers villain left to show up on screen. Introducing him in Ant-Man and The Wasp sequel might seem strange, but their first installment fully explored the concept of the Quantum Realm, which changed everything on Avengers: Endgame.
Like Ultron, Kurt Busiek wrote two of the defining Kang stories that best explains his nickname of The Conqueror with Avengers Forever and The Kang Dynasty. If you’re unfamiliar with him those are easy recommendations.
Hopefully this isn’t a Mandarin-like fake out as Kang deserves to be shown every bit as formidable as Thanos. And Majors is set to reach a new stratosphere in his career with this role.
