Image Comics reviews 9-23-20 Gideon Falls #25, Undiscovered Country #8
Undiscovered Country #8
The Undiscovered Country gang discovers a new zone and a familiar face as they reach the Unity Zone. But this techno organic locale that might offer more threats than safety.
Ace discovers a key to explain how the Undiscovered Country looks so much different than the world they left behind. And with a potential way to get back home.
Writers Charles Soule and Scott Snyder never fail to create that sense of a mystery within a labyrinth in every issue.
This could easily be a frustrating title with a lack of progression on key subplots, but Snyder and Soule drop enough breadcrumbs and provide enough answers that I’m never impatiently waiting on a payoff. The concept of vastly different zones is also very intriguing and one with a lot of potential. I’m already imagining what lies ahead in other zones.
Artist Giuseppe Camuncoli crafts a modern utopia with architect and character designs to match. It’s a nice contrast from the dusty, frontier visuals of the Destiny Zone. Colorist Matt Wilson does a nice job subtlety incorporating greys and blues into the Unity backdrop so it’s not just a stark white.
While the delegation might cause their own problems in Unity, a familiar face from Destiny is following along with likely very bad intentions.
Undiscovered Country #8 is another unpredictable ride into the unknown setting the stage for another memorable adventure.
