Get a look at Stargirl’s Season 2 big bad Eclipso
I really enjoyed Stargirl’s first season as it finally leaned in on the legacy of the DCU in a way no other live-action property has really ever done. In the season finale, we got a tease of Season 2’s villain Eclipso and now we get our first look at him courtesy of TVLine.
Nick Tarabay will be playing the longtime Justice Society of America enemy. Tarabay actually has some connection to the Arrowverse as he was Captain Boomerang in Arrow.
Eclipso’s character description sounds promising: “[an] ancient entity of corruption and vengeance, who is described as physically imposing and frightening. Brimming with a cold, terrifying darkness, Eclipso exploits the flaws of others, reveling in the impure and sinful, sadistically feeding off the dark side of humanity.”
The design is a pretty solid translation of more modern takes on Eclipso. Stargirl has done a fantastic job with the costumes so I wasn’t worried about that in the slightest and the show’s fantastic track record continues.
Beyond Eclipso, John Wesley Shipp is zooming over from The Flash to reprise his role of Jay Garrick. I’m glad Shipp is staying a key component of the Arrowverse and I’m thrilled we’ll see Jay Garrick here. Hopefully this means we’ll see other JSA members like Alan Scott Green Lantern and the teased Johnny Thunder.

Jonathan Cake will be part of the new additions as he’ll be playing Injustice Society member The Shade.
Stargirl hasn’t had an announced date for Season 2 yet beyond “the summer,” although if COVID-19 forces some more juggling of the schedule like Superman & Lois, it could show up earlier than expected.
