Star Wars The Black Series 332nd Clone Trooper figure review
Star Wars Clone Wars might be my favorite supplemental effort from any film series. It’s so well done that now I consider the prequel experience incomplete without including it. The final season did not disappoint with the emotional reunion with Anakin and his Padawan, Ahsoka. As part of this reunion, Anakin presented her with a squadron of 332nd Clone Troopers with a paintjob in her image.
Hasbro has a solid amount of Clone Wars Season 7 figures through regular channels, but the 332nd Clone Troopers had the dubious distinction of being part of a Wal-Mart exclusive. I got lucky enough to get a pair of Clone Troopers, but I’m still waiting in vain for another shot at Ahsoka and some of the Mandalorian soldiers. For now let’s take a look at the Clone Troopers.
Packaging: Hasbro definitely understood it was time to revitalize the Black Series packaging and the result is probably my favorite on the proverbial pegs.
If you could actually find figures on pegs naturally. The Clone Wars wave gets a nice orange yellow accent reminiscent of Ahsoka.
The package art is terrific with the trooper and Clone gunships in the background. The bio is also very nice explaining this unique look for the clones.
Likeness: This essentially looks like the same body as the Clone Troopers Hasbro has used back with the #14 clones, but it’s actually an upgrade over the older mold.
The big difference is the paintjob and the helmet and the softer material used for the shoulder pads. That’s not an issue of course since there should be some consistency with these army builders.
The armor looks clean and I’m just overall a big fan of the setup. I probably don’t need to go that in depth with it though, right? But man, as sinister as the normal Clone ver.2 helmet looks, it looks even more so with the Ahsoka paintjob.
Paint: The 332nd are a contingent of Anakin’s 501st division so they sport the blue accents with appropriate scarring to show its wear and tear through the Clone Wars.
This is probably my favorite aspect of the Clone Wars troopers as the paint alterations help them stand out from each other.

Scale: Most of the clones are a little shorter than Obi-Wan Kenobi, but their helmets make up the height. I’m ready for the new Clone Wars Anakin and Obi-Wan figures.
Articulation: The Clone Troopers basically need to be able to aim, squat and get wiped out by droids.
This body is pretty good on those fronts and it also has the added bonus of including the more modern articulation with the butterfly shoulders and wider hip joints.
The 332nd Clone Trooper has:
- neck
- ball-jointed shoulders
- elbow (with swivel)
- wrist
- wrist hinge
- torso
- hips
- thighs
- knees (double jointed)
- ankles
Accessories: The Clone Troopers come with two weapons.
One is the DC-15A blaster rifle, the larger rifle that needs to be held with both hands. The other is the DC-15S Blaster Carbine. This is smaller than the larger one that previously came with the original Clone Troopers.
Worth it? Since these were a Wal-Mart exclusive, they had a premium price of $25. That’s not ideal since there’s no difference between these guys and standard figures.
Rating: 9.5 out of 10
Besides the exclusive price, I’m thrilled to get these very unique offerings from the Clone Wars. The main trouble will be getting the other characters specifically an Ahsoka to lead them.
Where to get it? Wal-Mart supposedly had these guys actually available in stores, but I was only able to get them from a rare moment of them being back in stock on their website. Of course you could always pay above retail price on Amazon.
