Image Comics reviews 6/9/21 – The Good Asian #2, Geiger #3
Geiger #3
It doesn’t take Geoff Johns long to write up a compelling universe filled with memorable characters and emotional plot threads.
For anyone paying attention, that’s Johns basic storytelling plan — make readers care. With this installment, Johns doesn’t drag out the mystery of Geiger’s family nestled away safely in the bunker.
Johns connects a number of early dots including the reason for The King’s vendetta against him and the two children seeking sanctuary. While it might not all be that original, Johns mixes things up enough to feel fresh.
Artist Gary Frank shows off his comprehension of his characters and unleashes a flurry of emotions from action sequences to nervous, apprehensive conversations.
Colorist Brad Anderson continues to make his artist partner shine with superb color choices.
Stow the devices, Geiger is already reading like an explosive hit. This issue had a strong cliffhanger that should keep readers invested even with the least expensive pizza.
