Marvel Legends Scarlet Witch figure review – BAF Captain America Flight Gear wave
WandaVision was a lot of fun and it culminated in Wanda Maximoff finally becoming the Scarlet Witch. This was a big advancement in the evolution of Wanda as a hero. In a rarity, we didn’t have to wait long for figures from the first wave of Disney+ shows.
Wanda was my priority in this wave so I was happy to track her down without too much effort. Let’s see if this figure cast a spell on me or if I need to blame Agatha.
Packaging: This is the basic Marvel Legends packaging with the WandaVision logo. The package art reflects more of a realistic portrayal of Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff.
I also like the spacing of the wave with Wanda and Vision paired with Vision while The Falcon and the Winter Soldier figures are all together. The cross sell artwork looks a little weird like they’re very soft renders. Hasbro probably should go back to using photos of the figures instead of the artwork.
It’s interesting how the bio frames Wanda more like a villain than a heroic Avenger.
Likeness: I’ve been looking forward to seeing an actual Scarlet Witch design in the MCU and it was not disappointing. The figure is just as well done.
Hasbro has done solid work on Olsen’s likeness with other figures, but this one is on another level. This is Hot Toys level of detail and there’s no confusing this with another actress. You don’t have to squint and look from a distance, it’s clear this is Elizabeth Olsen.
What’s cool about this design is how it incorporates the style of the various comic book looks from the iconic headpiece to the ornate collar piece. It’s also cool to see the consistency with Wanda’s various MCU looks with the fingerless gloves and the flared skirt standing in for Wanda’s comic cape. I really like the wrap around lining on her arms as they simulate the trail of her energy effects.
The work put into the MCU figures is always a step up from the comic book figures as Hasbro makes sure to include all of the texturing detail and paneling of the movie costumes. This carries over to Wanda’s pants and boots as well.

Paint: Most of the paintwork is spectacular. The makeup application on Wanda’s headsculpt is amazing with just the right amount of eye shadow. This is easily the biggest enhancement of the face printing technique and sells the likeness of the actors.
Scarlet Witch’s outfit is various shades of red with a bright, vibrant glossy shade, a flat matte red and a much darker shade of red…almost like scarlet. There’s a lot of precise line work here and most of it is spot on although there are some areas with missing paint or it’s not lined up properly with the sculpted mark — like the boots.
Best advice for Scarlet Witch figures? Get her first since she’s kind of hard to track down, but just go for the one with the best head sculpt. Everything else is fixable.
Scale: This is kind of interesting as Wanda is in an attire she hasn’t worn around anyone with a figure besides Vision. She’s shorter than most of her fellow Avengers , which I’ll verify after I get the Captain America and The Winter Soldier from this wave.
These figures might be the closest I come to an MCU Avengers for awhile.
Articulation: Scarlet Witch has the pinless elbows Hasbro is implementing on more figures this year. As a largely gesturing character, Wanda doesn’t need to be able to hit deep stances or do high kicks.
Scarlet Witch has:
- neck
- ball-jointed shoulders
- elbow
- wrist
- wrist hinge
- torso
- waist
- hip
- thigh
- knee (double-jointed)
- ankle
Accessories: Scarlet Witch comes with some useful accessories.
She’s got translucent pink spell casting hands to match the energy trail arm effects. The energy effects are made for larger figures than Scarlet Witch
Additionally, she’s got the left wing of the Build-A-Figure Captain America flight gear. The incentive to complete this probably isn’t as strong as with actual figures, but I can’t imagine not completing this set too.
Worth it? Scarlet Witch is part of the last wave that clocks in at the $20 price tag before jumping to $23. That’s bound to make me a bit more selective in terms of what figures I rush to get at regular price and which ones I hope for a price cut/sale.
Rating: 10 out of 10
It’s nice to get an actual MCU version of Scarlet Witch and this design was so good I knew I needed a figure of it. I’m glad I didn’t have to wait too long to add this to my MCU display.
Where to get it? Check your local Target, Wal-Mart or GameStop stores. Wanda seems to be the first one gone so you might need to be quick. Otherwise, you can always grab her from Amazon or Entertainment Earth.
