DC Comics reviews 6/22/21 – Infinite Frontier #1, Robin #3

Wonder Woman Black and Gold #1

After the success of Superman Red and Blue, DC goes with another color combination with black and gold for Wonder Woman’s anthology series.

Given her lengthy history through various ages, Wonder Woman is a natural fit for this format although this first issue isn’t the most encouraging.

The standout story comes from writer John Arcudi and artist Ryan Sook looking at Wonder Woman’s take on human lives from World War II with her Justice League teammates.

Regular Wonder Woman co-writer Becky Cloonan pulls double duty on another strong story with Wonder Woman conducting a special investigation without the use of her lasso.

Black and gold make for a striking pairing and should continue to lead to some intriguing stories from talented creators. As always, the hope is the majority of the anthology stories are strong enough to warrant picking up each installment. This one is split down the middle, but it’s good to see Wonder Woman fans getting another title to grab on a monthly basis.
